An Xbox gift card pays ₦457.96 per dollar in Nigeria and ₵4.06 in Ghana, and those are the figures sitting on the GiftCash NG rate table on 10 October 2026. That puts Xbox at the bottom of the board, so it's worth knowing the number before you start asking around. Here's what each face value pays, why the rate sits low, and how to cash out.
An Xbox gift card puts credit on a Microsoft account. That balance covers games and downloadable content, Xbox Live and Game Pass subscriptions, films and series from the Microsoft Store, and apps sold through the same store. You buy it in fixed dollar, pound, euro, or Canadian dollar amounts depending on the market, and it stays locked to the region it was issued for.
The region lock matters before you sell. A card bought for the United States market only redeems on a US Microsoft account, so a buyer in Lagos or Accra needs that account to hand. It isn't a fault of the card, it's how the platform is built, but it decides who can take the card off you.
Today's published payout for the US-dollar Xbox card runs from $10 to $500, which reads ₦4,580 up to ₦228,978 on the Nigerian table and ₵40.64 up to ₵2,031.76 on the Ghanaian one. Xbox is one of only two cards on the table with a pound, euro, and Canadian dollar row alongside the dollar row, so a £100 card gets priced on its own line and doesn't follow the dollar figure.
The table prints a range rather than a list of values, so here is the same range broken into the amounts people actually hold. The per-dollar rate is ₦457.96 for Nigeria and ₵4.06 for Ghana, worked out from the top of the $10 to $500 band.

Each figure is the band's ceiling amount divided by its ceiling face value, then multiplied by the value you hold. That keeps a $100 card priced the same way the site prices it, instead of guessing from the two endpoints alone. Check the live rate table on the day you sell, because the number moves and the snapshot above is dated.
You don't need a $500 card to get a decent payout. A $50 card in Nigeria is ₦22,897.80, and in Ghana it's ₵203.18, money you can put toward data, fuel, or rent.
At ₦457.96 per dollar, Xbox sits below every other gaming card on the table. Here they are side by side, per dollar of face value.

The gap comes down to where the balance can be spent. An Xbox balance only spends inside Microsoft's own store, a smaller group of buyers than Steam's PC crowd or Razer's, which reaches a wider set of digital purchases. Fewer buyers for the card means a bigger discount when you sell it.
Compare that with the top of the table. Apple and iTunes pay ₦1,127.58 per dollar on the $150 to $500 band, about 2.5 times the Xbox rate, because an Apple balance covers apps, music, storage, and hardware for a far wider set of people. The broader the spend, the higher the payout.
Read the last two columns with care. Naira and cedis are quoted separately for each market, one isn't a conversion of the other, so ₦457.96 and ₵4.06 aren't the same number written twice. The order takes a few minutes on a phone, and the steps are the same in both markets.
Photograph the card in good light with any receipt visible if you still have it. The receipt doesn't change the rate, but it speeds up verification because the order can clear automatically instead of by hand.

This one is a straight question about whether you'll spend the balance yourself.
If you already pay for Game Pass every month, the card is worth its full face value to you, and no exchange beats that. Every exchange pays under face value by design. Keep the card and check the current subscription price on Microsoft's own store rather than a third-party page, this one included.
If you don't use Game Pass and don't plan to start, the card is only worth what a buyer will pay for it. Xbox balances don't expire, but they also don't earn anything while they sit in your drawer.
The common case sits in the middle. You use Game Pass now and then but need the cash today. Selling the card and paying month by month when you actually want the service loses the gap between face value and payout, and gains cash in hand plus the freedom to stop paying in months you skip.
In Nigeria, payouts land by bank transfer to any Nigerian bank. In Ghana, they go by Mobile Money through MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, or AT Money, or by bank transfer if you prefer. Once the card clears verification, the payment window is 15 to 30 minutes either way.
