Gift Card Rate History in Naira and Cedis: Five Weeks of Pound Rates

Oct 22, 2026, 04:25 PM | 4 views

Airbnb pays ₦1,241.01 for every pound on 23 October 2026, the highest pound rate on our board, and ₵10.87 in Ghana. Across 30 recorded trading days since 16 September the £500 payout has stayed between ₦617,167 and ₦621,098, a range of ₦3,931. That's the whole story of pound rates in naira: they drift by a few thousand and the ranking between cards never moves.

We capture the rates page every time we run the board. Nothing here is modelled or averaged. 48 captures between 16 September and 23 October collapse into 30 distinct trading days. Every figure below is a current market rate we printed on the day, so read it as an exchange history rather than a forecast.

How much has the pound rate moved in five weeks?

Six pound cards have been on the board since 16 September. All six moved by 0.42% in 37 days. The figures below are per £1, so a card's face value can't distort the comparison.

Card16 Sep (₦/£1)23 Oct (₦/£1)
Airbnb₦1,235.86₦1,241.01
Steam₦1,209.28₦1,214.32
Paysafe₦1,182.70₦1,187.63
Xbox₦1,169.41₦1,174.29
H&M₦1,156.13₦1,160.94
Matalan₦1,129.55₦1,134.25

Every one of them gained 0.42%, which tells you the board isn't repricing cards one at a time. A naira adjustment lands across the whole pound column and each band keeps its relative position. Five more cards joined on 11 October, when All in 1, Love2shop, Currys, Every-wish and Youchoosea arrived with the same internal spacing already built in.

Every pound gift card on the board today

Here's the full pound column this morning, priced per £1 in both currencies. That's 11 gift card brands across 12 bands, and a pound is doing very different work depending on which card it sits on.

Card₦ per £1₵ per £1
Airbnb₦1,241.01₵10.87
All in 1₦1,227.66₵10.75
Steam₦1,214.32₵10.64
Love2shop₦1,200.97₵10.52
Paysafe₦1,187.63₵10.40
Xbox₦1,174.29₵10.29

Currys₦1,067.53₵9.35
Every-wish₦1,067.53₵9.35
Youchoosea₦1,067.53₵9.35

The Paysafe gift card carries two bands, and the rate above is the upper one. A £15 to £50 Paysafe code pays ₦1,130.26 per pound, while a £50 to £500 code pays the ₦1,187.63 in the table. The other ten brands hold one flat rate across a single band.

Does the ranking between cards ever change?

Not once in 13 straight trading days. From 11 October, the first day all 11 brands appear together, through 23 October, the gap between the top card and the bottom three reads 16.25% every single day.

That's the useful part of a rate history. The top and bottom of the pound column move in lockstep across all 13 days, so a card that pays poorly today will still pay poorly next month. Which card you choose matters far more than when you choose to sell it.

Is it worth waiting for a better rate?

On Airbnb, no. The best £500 payout across 30 trading days was ₦621,098 on 20 September. The worst was ₦617,167 on 30 September. Timing the peak instead of selling at the trough is worth ₦3,931.

Compare that to picking the right card. £500 through Airbnb pays ₦620,504. The same £500 through Youchoosea pays ₦533,767. That's ₦86,737, which is 22 times the entire five-week rate swing. Ghana tells the same story: ₵5,435.15 against ₵4,675.40, a gap of ₵759.75.

How to check a pound rate before you sell

The board on the rates page is the only source worth trusting, and reading it properly takes about 60 seconds.

  1. Open the rates page and switch to NGN or GHS depending on where the money should land.
  2. Find your card and read the band it falls into. Airbnb starts at £100, Steam and Xbox at £10, Paysafe at £15, and All in 1, Love2shop, Currys, Every-wish and Youchoosea at £50.
  3. Divide the top payout by the top face value to get the per-pound rate. That number, not the headline payout, is what you compare across cards.
  4. Sell through the Airbnb card page if that's what you hold, or the Steam page for a wallet code. Payouts go to GTBank, Access or Zenith, to an OPay or PalmPay wallet in Nigeria, or to MTN MoMo and Telecel Cash in Ghana, and most cards clear in 15 to 30 minutes.

If you already log rates yourself, the daily checking guide covers the habit side of it. For each of the 11 brands on its own, the full UK pound breakdown runs the same maths card by card.

Questions people ask about rate history

Why do all the pound cards move by exactly 0.42%?

Because the board prices the pound column as a group, not card by card. When a naira adjustment lands, all 12 bands scale with it and the gaps between brands hold their shape.

Has any pound card dropped off the board?

Yes. Five brands only appear from 11 October onward. All in 1, Love2shop, Currys, Every-wish and Youchoosea weren't listed in September, so their history runs 13 trading days instead of 30.

Can I see a rate history chart for one specific card?

The table in the first section is that chart for the six cards that ran all 30 trading days. For a single card today, the rates page carries the live band and the per-pound figure is one division away.

Does the Ghana rate history look the same?

We charted the naira view here because that's where the longest run of captures sits. Ghana tracks the same order and the same 16.25% spread, so the shape carries over even though the cedi numbers sit lower.

Selling in Lagos, Abuja, Accra or Kumasi runs through the same board. The rate moves by a few naira a month, the ranking holds, and the card you pick decides almost all of the difference.
