Sell eBay Gift Cards in Nigeria: Complete 2026 Guide

eBay cards don't get the attention Amazon cards get. That's a mistake, and the rate table shows why.

What an eBay card pays in Naira right now

Two bands cover eBay on the Naira table, and the gap between them is the whole story of this article.

Read the last column again. eBay is one of the few cards on the table where the bigger band pays more per dollar, not less. A $25 card brings ₦692.76 for every dollar. A $500 card brings ₦769.72. That's ₦76.96 more per dollar on the large sizes.

The reference line behind all of this is 1 USD = ₦1,327, so nobody is paying you full face value. That's normal for every brand on the page.

The $100 line costs you ₦7,697 if you get it wrong

A $100 eBay card sits in both rows. The top of the lower band quotes ₦69,275. The bottom of the upper band quotes ₦76,972.

Same card, same day, ₦7,697 apart. That's roughly a month of mobile data in Lagos.

So never estimate from a chart, including this one. Put your exact face value into the live rates page and read the number it gives you. And if a buyer quotes you off the top of their head, walk.

Where eBay sits against the rest of the Naira table

Per-dollar payout at the $500 end separates the brands cleanly.

eBay lands in the middle. It pays ₦119.44 more per dollar than Amazon and ₦13.27 less than Target. On a $500 card that's ₦59,719 more than Amazon would give you.

Why does eBay hold up better than Amazon? The pricing model behind the table isn't published, so we won't pretend to know. What's on the page is consistent though. eBay balances get spent on physical goods through a marketplace that ships worldwide, and eBay cards see far less counterfeiting than the big retail brands. Small eBay cards are still worth selling

Most brands on that table start at $50 or $100. eBay starts at $25, and that matters if you're sitting on a stack of small cards from birthdays.

Five $25 cards come to ₦86,595 at today's lower band. Five $20 Amazon cards aren't quoted at all, because Amazon doesn't list below $50. So the small eBay cards in your drawer are worth checking before you write them off.

How the Naira actually reaches your bank

The whole sale happens from your phone. No shop visit, no meeting anyone in a car park.

1. Confirm the card is full. Sign in to the eBay account it was bought for and check the balance. Partly used cards get refused. Here's how to check without redeeming it in our balance verification guide.
2. Pick eBay and USD. Select USD on the eBay sell page if that's what you're holding. A GBP card submitted as USD will mismatch the quote and stall the trade.
3. Upload the code and a clear photo. The card face or the original purchase email both work. Blurry photos slow down more trades than anything else.
4. Approve the quote. The Naira goes to your Nigerian bank account. The stated window is 15 to 30 minutes after verification, and that's matched our experience.
5. Keep the purchase email. If the trade needs a second look, that email settles it in minutes.

Timing matters more than people expect. eBay rates move with supply, and the best window is usually the last week of the month and the run-up to Christmas, when demand for US marketplace balances climbs. We wrote about timing your sale separately.

What gets an eBay card rejected

• Region lock. eBay cards are issued for a specific marketplace. A US card and a UK card are not interchangeable, so pick the right country on the form.
• Partly used balance. Sellers forget a small purchase from months ago and submit anyway. It gets caught at verification.
• Wrong currency selected. USD, GBP, CAD and EUR all behave differently. Match the card exactly.
• Reseller cards. Cheap eBay cards bought from Telegram sellers are often fraud-sourced. Those get clawed back after payout and your account gets flagged. Our fake card guide covers the tells.

Check the eBay rate before you submit

The numbers above are today's numbers. eBay pays better than Amazon right now, and it paid better last month too, but the exact figure moves.
