Sell Target Gift Cards in Ghana: Get Top Cedis Rates

Sep 20, 2026, 01:13 PM | 4 views

A $100 Target gift card pays ₵683.11 in Ghana right now. That figure comes off the GiftCash rate page tonight, and it's the number that matters if your card is never going to see a checkout lane in Ohio.

Target cards in Ghana usually arrive the same way. A brother in Maryland sends one at Christmas. A giveaway lands in your inbox. Somebody who owed you a favour paid in plastic. Target has no stores here, so the balance just sits. Turn it into cedis and that money reaches your MTN MoMo wallet, ready for data, fuel or school fees the same evening.

One honest note before the numbers. Target isn't the highest-paying card on the Ghana table, and this page won't pretend it is. It does, however, beat eBay, Best Buy and Amazon on the same face value, and that's worth checking against whatever is sitting in your drawer. The rest of this page is the arithmetic.

What a $100 Target card pays today

Only the live rate page counts. Rates move, and a figure somebody quoted in a WhatsApp group last Tuesday is worth nothing.

As of 21:05 GMT+8 on 20 September 2026, Target is listed on the Ghana table from $100 to $500 in USD:

Face valueYou receive (GHS)
$100₵683.11
$200₵1,366.22
$500₵3,415.55

The $100 and $500 lines are printed on the page. The $200 figure is worked out from that band. Divide the ceiling by its face value and you get ₵3,415.55 ÷ 500 = ₵6.8311 per dollar, then double it for a $200 card. Target quotes linearly, so every face value inside the band scales the same way.

One detail catches people out. Target's listing opens at $100. A $50 card doesn't appear on the table at all, so don't count on a quote for it before you ask support. Hold a small card and pair it with a larger one instead.

Where Target lands next to eBay, Best Buy and Amazon

Check these yourself. Every figure below comes from dividing a band's upper limit by its face value on the 20 September snapshot.

CardPer $1 of face value$200 pays
Target ($100-$500)₵6.83₵1,366.22
eBay ($100-$500)₵6.72₵1,343.06
Best Buy ($100-$500)₵6.37₵1,273.60
Amazon ($100-$500)₵5.67₵1,134.66

Take eBay. Its top band reads ₵671.53 to ₵3,357.66, so ₵3,357.66 ÷ 500 = ₵6.7153 a dollar. Best Buy's ₵3,183.99 ÷ 500 = ₵6.3680. Amazon's ₵2,836.64 ÷ 500 = ₵5.6733. Target's ₵6.8311 beats all three, and the eBay and Best Buy pages price the same way.

I used $200 as the anchor on purpose. Amazon and eBay both split their quotes across two bands at the $100 line, so a $100 comparison sits on a boundary and two people can read it differently. $200 sits cleanly inside the upper band.

The gap over eBay is ₵11.58 on a $100 card and ₵57.89 on a $500 card. Small at the bottom, wider at the top.

Now the ceiling, so you know what sits above you. Apple and iTunes pay ₵1,961.34 on a $200 card, which is ₵595.12 more than Target. Razer, Nordstrom and Lululemon all land at ₵1,829.34 by the same division. Gaming and fashion cards beat department store cards on this table, and nobody should expect otherwise. Target is a solid mid-table payout, not the peak.

How the cedis actually reach your wallet

The card gets verified first. Then the money moves. Four steps:

  1. Open the Target selling page and check the live band against your face value. When you're ready, enter the card type, the amount and USD as the currency.
  2. Send a clear photo of the card back, or the digital code if it arrived by email. Blur, glare and a thumb over the code slow verification down more than anything else.
  3. Wait for verification. GiftCash pays within 15 to 30 minutes once the balance checks out. Nothing is deducted before that.
  4. Enter your payout details. MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash and AT Money all work, and so does a Ghanaian bank account. Use the registered name on the wallet exactly as it appears, because a mismatch sends the transfer back.

The whole thing runs on mobile data, so you don't need a laptop or an office visit. Sellers in Kumasi, Takoradi and Tamale follow the identical steps, and the Accra payout guide covers the wallet setup in more detail.

What gets a Target card rejected

Rejections are almost always boring, and they're all avoidable:

  • A partly used balance. You declare $100 and the card holds $74.12. Target cards are easy to check, so the balance has to match your claim exactly.
  • A blurry or scratched code. If the character after the hyphen is unreadable, nobody can verify anything.
  • A card that's already been redeemed. Once a code is used, it's gone. Nothing brings it back.
  • A card bought with a stolen credit card. When the real owner disputes the charge, the balance gets pulled back. That's why source matters, and it's the fastest route to a frozen account.

Anything unclear gets held for review rather than paid. A two-minute photo check on your end saves a day of waiting.

If the card came from a relative abroad

This is the most common case in Ghana, and it carries its own trap. The person who sent the card is proud of it. They'll tell you it's worth "a hundred dollars" as though that settles the price. It doesn't. ₵683.11 is what the market pays for a $100 Target card tonight, and the gap between face value and payout is the cost of turning a US store balance into cedis.

The second trap is the helpful middleman. Someone in a Telegram group offers to handle it for you and shave a percentage off the top. Some of those accounts are honest. Plenty aren't, and the ones that aren't ask for the code first. Read our scam alert for Nigeria and Ghana before you hand a code to anyone you haven't verified.

If the sender wants proof, a payout record from a platform beats a promise every time. Same rule applies whether you're cashing a Target card or a Google Play card in Ghana.

Check the rate before you send the card

Target moves with the rest of the table, and the 20 September figures won't hold forever. Open the live rates page, switch the country selector to Ghana, and read the Target line before you do anything else. If you'd rather see the maths first, the Cedis calculator guide walks through the same division, and the 2026 Ghana rate roundup puts every card side by side.

Then go to the Target page, pick your face value, upload the card and enter your MoMo number. Verification takes minutes, and the cedis land in the same window.

Don't sit on a Target card because a friend swore it was worth more. It isn't. ₵683.11 for a hundred dollars is the market this Sunday, and a balance in your drawer earns nothing while you hold it.
