Sell a GameStop Gift Card in Nigeria and Ghana: $100 to $500 Rates

A $100 GameStop gift card pays ₦97,296 in Nigeria and ₵853.74 in Ghana on the board captured on 20 October 2026. The band runs to $500, where the same card pays ₦486,479 or ₵4,268.70. One rate covers the whole span, so waiting for the balance to grow earns you nothing.

GameStop is an odd card to be holding in Lagos or Accra. The shop it pays into doesn't operate on either side of the border, the card can't be swapped for another one, and GameStop itself says it won't hand over cash. What it does have is a buyer, and that buyer pays ₦972.96 for every dollar of face value.

What a GameStop card pays today

GameStop carries a single band on the board: $100 to $500. Nothing smaller shows a listed figure.

The naira column runs ₦97,296 to ₦486,479 and the cedi column runs ₵853.74 to ₵4,268.70. Take the top of the band and divide it by the top face value and the unit rate falls out at ₦972.96 per dollar, or ₵8.54 per dollar. That unit rate doesn't move anywhere inside the band.

Two of those rows are printed on the rates page and three are worked out from the unit rate. A $200 card lands on ₦194,592 because it's exactly two $100 cards, and a $400 balance split into four $100 cards comes to the same ₦389,183. GameStop pays no premium for size and takes nothing off a smaller balance inside the band.

Ghana publishes no dollar reference line, so the figure to plan against in Accra is ₵8.54 per dollar. Lining the naira and cedi columns up against each other gets you nowhere, since they're different currencies priced for different markets.

GameStop's own rules leave you one option

The gift card FAQ on gamestop.com states where the plastic works: the cards can only be redeemed in the U.S. at GameStop.com and GameStop store locations. Nigeria and Ghana have no GameStop store, so neither half of that sentence is open to you.

Two more lines from the same FAQ do the rest of the work. The card cannot be used to buy other GameStop gift cards, or any of the third-party currency the store sells, which kills the idea of turning it into PlayStation credit. And GameStop says plainly that gift cards cannot be refunded or redeemed for cash.

Read those three rules together and the card is a voucher for a shop that isn't here, tied to goods you can't collect, with no cash exit at the counter. Passing it to someone who can spend it is the only route from balance to money.

That's also why the rate holds at ₦972.96 per dollar. The buyer isn't paying for convenience. They're paying for a card they can redeem and you can't.

Why $100 is the floor

The $100 floor belongs to the board, not to the card. GameStop sells smaller cards, but the board carries no row for them, so a $25 or $50 card has no printed rate at all. Ask for a quote instead of assuming it pays a quarter or half of ₦97,296, because the answer isn't a straight division.

Eight of the thirty dollar rows open at $100 and GameStop is one of them, sitting in the same bracket as Target, Best Buy and Foot Locker. Cards that start lower, like Steam at $10 or eBay at $25, will take a small balance off your hands. GameStop won't, not without a quote first.

Where GameStop sits among the gaming cards

GameStop's own sell page files it under gaming, and the label fits: the card buys consoles, discs and accessories. Among the platform and hardware brands below, only Razer Gold pays more per dollar.

Razer Gold pays ₦1,052.93 a dollar, 8.2% ahead of GameStop. The drop below is sharper than the gap above. Steam pays ₦826.35, which is ₦146.61 less per dollar than GameStop, and Xbox at ₦458.49 pays less than half. Put that on a $200 card and the gap between GameStop and Xbox comes to ₦102,894.

The third-party game-credit marketplaces sit outside that table and don't all lose to GameStop. offgamers pays ₦1,066.26 per dollar on its dollar row, which is higher. Eneba and Kinguin print euro rows only, so their rates can't be lined up against a dollar card at all.

Check the balance before the card leaves your hands

GameStop runs its own balance inquiry and it asks for two things: the 19-digit card number and the four-digit PIN, both printed on the back of the card. Digital cards carry the same pair in the delivery email.

That PIN also decides where the card can be spent. The FAQ says a card without the four-digit PIN alongside the 19-digit number can only be used at a GameStop store, which rules out redeeming it online. A photo with the PIN panel still unscratched is a card with fewer buyers, not a safer one.

Three things worth walking away from. Someone quoting above the board rate is buying something other than your card.
