Retail Gift Card Rates in Nigeria and Ghana: Target, Foot Locker, eBay, Best Buy

Oct 20, 2026, 02:09 PM | 5 views

A $100 Foot Locker gift card pays ₦101,294 on the GiftCash NG board today. The same $100 in Best Buy pays ₦73,305.

The five store cards below print a dollar rate, and the gap between the top and the bottom is ₦27,989 on an identical face value. In cedis it runs from ₵888.82 down to ₵643.23. Every figure here came off the live board at 21:54 CST on 20 October 2026, when the naira reference line sat at ₦1,333 to the dollar.

What each retail card pays for $100

CardNairaCedis
Foot Locker₦101,294₵888.82
GameStop₦97,296₵853.74
Target₦78,636₵690.01
eBay₦77,304₵678.31
Best Buy₦73,305₵643.23

Foot Locker and GameStop sit on top, ₦3,998 apart. Then the drop: GameStop to Target is a ₦18,660 step, and the two below Target are ₦1,332 and ₦3,999 further back.

GameStop is the surprise. It sells consoles and discs, not groceries, and it still out-pays Target by ₦18,660 on the same $100 card. Its rate is a dead match for Macy's, ₦97,296 and ₵853.74 on both, so the board prices those two as one tier.

The cedi column keeps that order, which matters in Accra: Foot Locker ₵888.82, GameStop ₵853.74, Target ₵690.01, eBay ₵678.31, Best Buy ₵643.23.

Where the five rates actually split

Per dollar of face value, Foot Locker pays ₦1,012.94, GameStop ₦972.96, Target ₦786.36, eBay ₦773.04, Best Buy ₦733.05. Multiply any of those by the balance on the card and you have the payout.

Top to bottom is ₦279.89 per dollar, a 38% difference. On a $200 card that becomes ₦55,978. The store name printed on the plastic moves your money by more than a third.

In cedis the line reads ₵8.89 for Foot Locker, ₵8.54 for GameStop, ₵6.90 for Target, ₵6.78 for eBay, ₵6.43 for Best Buy. Same 38% gap at the top and bottom. Ghana publishes no dollar reference line, so that cedi column is the number to plan against if you bank in Accra.

None of the five is the best payer on the board. Nordstrom and Lululemon clear ₦105,293 for the same $100, and the fashion group holds the higher ground in both currencies. If there's a Nordstrom card in the same drawer as a Best Buy card, sell the Nordstrom first.

One thing worth saying plainly: a card rate is a commercial offer, not a central bank rate. The ₦279.89 spread between Foot Locker and Best Buy doesn't come from a formula anyone publishes. What holds is the ordering, taken off one board at one moment.

From $100 up the rate is flat, so $200 pays double

All five carry a $100 to $500 band, and the rate is flat across the whole span. There's no bonus for a bigger balance and no penalty for a smaller one inside the band, so a $200 card pays exactly two times a $100 card.

Card$200 pays$500 pays
Foot Locker₦202,588₦506,471
GameStop₦194,592₦486,479
Target₦157,273₦393,182
eBay₦154,607₦386,518
Best Buy₦146,610₦366,525

Two $100 GameStop cards pay ₦194,592. One $200 card pays ₦194,592. Same money, so there's nothing to gain by sitting on a balance and waiting for it to grow. A $50 Target card doesn't fetch half of ₦78,636 either, because that band opens at $100 and smaller balances need a quote.

Card by card

Foot Locker

Band $100 to $500. A $100 card pays ₦101,294 or ₵888.82, the top of this group and 76.0% of the naira reference line.

GameStop

Band $100 to $500. $100 pays ₦97,296 or ₵853.74, second in the group and identical to Macy's. A $500 GameStop card still clears ₦486,479.

Target

Band $100 to $500. $100 pays ₦78,636 or ₵690.01. It's the lowest payer in the fashion group too, so the position isn't an accident of which table you land on.

eBay

Two bands, $25 to $100 and $100 to $500. From $100 up a $100 card pays ₦77,304. Under $100 the rate drops to ₦695.73 per dollar, about 10% less.

Best Buy

Band $100 to $500. $100 pays ₦73,305 or ₵643.23, the floor of the group at 55.0% of the reference line. A $500 Best Buy card is still worth ₦366,525.

The catch in eBay's second band

eBay is the only card here priced from below $100, and the small band pays less: ₦695.73 per dollar against ₦773.04 above $100, ₦77.31 lost on every dollar.

A $100 eBay card is quoted twice on the same board. ₦69,573 sits at the ceiling of the lower band, ₦77,304 at the floor of the upper one, and the band that starts at $100 is the one that applies. Read it the other way and you leave ₦7,731 on the table.

Amazon runs the opposite way. Its $50 to $100 band pays ₦666.41 per dollar and everything above $100 pays ₦653.08, so a small Amazon card is the stronger one. Check which band your card falls in before assuming size helps.

Retail names that didn't make the table

Walmart, Costco, Lowe's and Home Depot all have a page on this site, but none printed a rate on the board today. Send the card details and take a quote. A missing printed rate isn't the same as a refusal.

Target is the one name that turns up in this group and in the fashion group, and it's the lowest payer in both. Its ₦78,636 isn't a one-off reading from a single table.

What a fake quote looks like, and how to sell safely

The reference line is ₦1,333 to the dollar. The best dollar card on the entire board, Apple, tops out at ₦1,128.90 per dollar on its $150 to $500 band, which is 84.7% of the line. Foot Locker reaches 76.0%. Nothing on the board pays ₦1,150 for a dollar.

So when a WhatsApp seller offers ₦1,150 per dollar on a $100 Foot Locker card, that's ₦115,000 against the ₦101,294 the board pays, 13.5% above what the top of this group gets and 86.3% of the official dollar rate. It reads like a small premium. It's a number nobody can honour, and the point of it is to get your code sent first.

The same test works in cedis, where $100 of Foot Locker is ₵888.82. An offer of ₵950 for that card is 6.9% over the market. Real buyers work inside the printed range, not above it.

To sell one: open the card page, check the figure against the table above, then submit the code. Payout lands in a Nigerian bank account, or in Ghana through MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash or AT Money. Most trades settle in 15 to 30 minutes. If the code fails verification you aren't charged, and the card stays yours.

Which retail card pays the most right now?

Foot Locker, at ₦101,294 for $100 and ₦1,012.94 per dollar. GameStop is second at ₦97,296. Both beat Target, eBay and Best Buy, but neither beats the fashion group, where Nordstrom and Lululemon clear ₦105,293.

Do I lose money selling a $50 retail card?

On four of the five, yes, because the band opens at $100 and a $50 card needs a quote rather than the printed rate. eBay is the exception: it prices from $25, but at ₦695.73 per dollar instead of ₦773.04.

Why is the cedi payout different from the naira one?

Each currency is converted at its own rate by the platform, and Ghana's board publishes no dollar reference line at all. So ₵888.82 and ₦101,294 are two separate quotes for one card.
