A $100 Macy's gift card pays ₵854.18 in Ghana today. That's ₵8.54 for every dollar of face value, ahead of eBay at ₵6.79 and Amazon at ₵5.73.
Macy's cards reach Ghana the way most US retail plastic does. A cousin in Maryland sends one at Christmas. Somebody settling a favour hands over a card instead of cash. Macy's runs no stores here, so the balance just sits until you clear it.
Here's what it's worth, then how to turn it into cedis without getting stung.
Open the rates page and switch the country to Ghana. Macy's gets one row, quoted in USD:
| Face value | Payout (₵) | Where the figure comes from |
|---|---|---|
| $100 | ₵854.18 | published floor |
| $200 | ₵1,708.37 | ceiling ÷ 500 × 200 |
| $500 | ₵4,270.92 | published ceiling |
Divide the ceiling by its face value and you get ₵8.5418 per dollar. The floor gives the same figure. Macy's band is flat across its whole range, so that division holds anywhere between $100 and $500.
Watch the edges. Macy's row opens at $100. A $50 card doesn't appear on the table at all, so don't bank on a quote until you've asked support.
The row is priced in US dollars only, with no cedi or pound version anywhere on the board. A Macy's card loaded in anything else isn't covered by this quote.
Eleven cards on the Ghana board share the $100 to $500 band. Here's how they stack up per dollar:
| Card | Per $1 (₵) | $200 pays (₵) |
|---|---|---|
| one4all ($100 - $500) | ₵9.59 | ₵1,918.99 |
| Lululemon | ₵9.24 | ₵1,848.78 |
| Foot Locker | ₵8.89 | ₵1,778.58 |
| Sephora | ₵8.78 | ₵1,755.17 |
| Macy's | ₵8.54 | ₵1,708.37 |
| Target | ₵6.90 | ₵1,380.74 |
| eBay ($100 - $500) | ₵6.79 | ₵1,357.33 |
| Amazon ($100 - $500) | ₵5.73 | ₵1,146.71 |
Macy's is sixth of the eleven, which sounds unremarkable until you look at what it beats. On $200 of face value it pays ₵351.04 more than eBay, ₵561.66 more than Amazon and ₵327.63 more than Target. All three pay less per dollar, which is the argument for checking the Macy's row before you swap the card for something that looks easier to move.
It doesn't top the band. Foot Locker pays ₵0.35 more per dollar, which is ₵70.21 more on a $200 card, and Lululemon pays ₵0.70 more, or ₵140.41 on the same face value. Gamestop, meanwhile, sits on exactly the same ₵8.5418 as Macy's, so the two are interchangeable if you hold either.
On the published table Macy's sits directly under Lululemon and above Matalan, whose row is priced in pounds. That's the ordering on screen if you're hunting for the row.
The payout tracks how quickly a US buyer will take the balance off your hands. A Macy's card buys clothing, homeware and perfume from a chain with hundreds of stores, and those balances move fast.
Amazon and eBay are the opposite case. They're the two most common codes on the planet, and everybody clearing a drawer at the same time is pushing the same two names. Supply beats demand, so the price drops. On today's table that shows up as ₵2.81 a dollar between Macy's and Amazon.
Target explains the rest of the pattern. It's a discount chain, so its balance moves quickly but cheaply, and it lands ₵1.64 below Macy's per dollar.
Two warnings about this board. The Ghana view publishes no 1 USD = ₵X reference line, unlike the Nigeria view, so there's no official rate to work out a share of. And the cedis table is priced on its own, not converted from the naira one. If your card is meant for Lagos rather than Accra, read the Nigeria Macy's guide, because a naira figure and a cedis figure are not the same number.
Sort these four out first:
That last point causes most of the arguments. A Macy's balance lives in a US account and can't be moved into a Ghanaian one. Its only value to you is the code.
Then the sale itself runs in four steps:
Selling from Kumasi or Tema works the same way as selling from Accra. The payout is a transfer, not a pickup, so your city doesn't change the number.
Now the two offers that were never real. The first is the overpay. Someone offers ₵1,000 for your $100 Macy's code when the published rate is ₵854.18. That extra ₵145.82 is bait, and the script that follows is always the same: send the code first, settle after. There is no settle after.
The second is the MoMo alert. A buyer sends a screenshot of a payment confirmation, all official looking, and asks for the code. Check the balance on your own phone, not their image. A screenshot costs nothing to produce. Our fake card guide covers the rest of the playbook.
Both come down to one rule. You never pay to sell a card, and you never send a code before the cedis are on your own phone.
Every figure above comes from a GiftCash NG rates snapshot taken on 30 September 2026 at 23:10 CST, Ghana view. The number that counts is the one on screen when you press send, because rates here move daily.
Before your next sale, do the division yourself. Open the rates page, switch to Ghana, find the Macy's row and divide ₵4,270.92 by 500. Hold that number. If an offer comes in below it, walk away. If it comes in well above it, walk faster.
Ready to move the card? Start at Macy's. Clearing a drawer instead? The eBay guide covers a card that pays less per dollar, the Foot Locker guide covers one that pays a little more, and the Cedis calculator runs the same division for you.
