eBay pays more per dollar on its bigger band. That's unusual. Open the live rates page with the country switcher on Ghana and you'll find the eBay row sitting between Best Buy and Footlocker, priced in cedis like every other dollar card on the board.
The band you land in is worth ₵335 on a $500 card. Price that same card at the small-band unit rate and you'd walk away with hundreds less than the board pays today.
Here's what eBay pays in Ghana right now, where the cedis land, and which cards get refused at verification.

Read the right column as the payout for the whole card, not per dollar. Divide the ends of each band and the unit rate shows up: ₵6.04 for every dollar in the first band, ₵6.71 for every dollar in the second. Both bands run linear, so a $50 eBay card fetches ₵301.91 and a $300 card fetches ₵2,012.71.
Then look at the floor. eBay starts at $25, lower than the retail rows next to it. Footlocker, Target, Sephora and Macy all begin at $100. If you're holding a small eBay card, you don't have to wait to top it up. A $25 card still fetches ₵150.95, and that's the smallest eBay payout the Ghana board quotes. The second band closes at $500, so anything above that needs its own quote instead of a straight multiplication.
Two bands, two unit rates, with the line between them at $100. A $25 or $50 card belongs to the lower band and earns ₵6.04 per dollar. Anything in the $100 to $500 band earns ₵6.71. On the higher band that's 67 extra pesewas for every dollar of face value, same brand, same card.
The awkward part is $100 itself. That amount sits inside both bands, and the board doesn't spell out which row it gets priced against. So ask for a quote on your exact amount rather than assuming, and don't use $100 as the anchor when you compare eBay with another card.
Amazon moves the opposite way in Ghana. Its $50 to $100 band pays ₵5.78 per dollar, and its $100 to $500 band pays ₵5.67. Amazon slides down as the balance grows. eBay climbs. Two marketplace cards, two different curves, so keep them apart when you decide what to sell.
One board quirk is worth knowing. The Ghana view doesn't print a USD reference rate the way the Nigeria view does, so per-dollar math inside the cedis column is the only fair way to weigh one card against another.

$200 falls inside eBay's upper band, so the boundary problem disappears. On that size, eBay beats Amazon by ₵208.21 and trails Apple and iTunes by ₵617.69. Across the board the top dollar card pays ₵9.80 and the cheapest pays ₵3.98, a 2.46× spread on the same $1 of face value. eBay sits closer to the top than the bottom.
The board prices each brand on its own row, so nothing on it explains why Apple and iTunes top the chart while Xbox sits at the bottom. The only comparison that holds is the row in front of you.
One note on method: the $200 column multiplies each card's per-dollar rate, taken from the top of its own band, by 200. That keeps eBay's two bands from distorting the picture.
Those unit rates move. They're recalculated as demand and liquidity shift, which is why checking the board daily beats trusting a number you saw last week.
Ghana payouts arrive through MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, AT Money, or a bank transfer into your own account. Telecel Cash is what Vodafone Cash became after the 2023 rebrand, so an old Vodafone label in your wallet app still runs on the same rails.

Four things cause most of the rejections we see.
Spent balances top the list. eBay cards load once, and a partly drained card shows up the moment anyone checks it. Confirm the full balance before you submit anything, the way this walkthrough describes.
Then there's the region question. An eBay gift card belongs to the marketplace it was issued for. A card bought on eBay.com is built for eBay.com, not eBay.co.uk, and the two don't swap. Cards in Ghana often arrive as gifts from relatives abroad, so check the marketplace printed on the card rather than assuming.
Codes get shared too easily. Once a code has been photographed into a WhatsApp group or posted in a forum, anyone who saw it can drain the balance. Keep that code to yourself until the sale closes.
The last one is harder to spot: a card funded by a stolen payment method. When the original buyer disputes the charge, the balance can be pulled back and the payout reversed. Cards with a clean receipt story clear faster.
